Bughouse Tournament

Today, I had the dubious pleasure of reading many AI-generated slop posts. Because of that dreadful experience, I, the author of this post, promise you: no AI was involved in writing this. All typos and grammatical mistakes are fully human generated, and might even carry some hidden meaning if you are interested in finding one…

In our first ever bughouse tournamen, we welcomed 44 players in 22 teams, each of wich had to call on their inner muse to create an amazing team name. Some teams chose very good names: I particularly liked “Master of Desaster” and “Marziminis”. Others made some more unfortunate decision, like “AI slop”. As you might imagine, I was not particularly rooting for the latter team, and am appy to report they did not make it in the top 3 of the evening.

Insteed, the top 3 was fought over in some very close matches. After four round, it seemed that the only undefeated team “The Bald Ones”, would become the BugMasters of the evening. Unfortunately, they lost in the fifth round agaist “Utab Ixam” and things grew tighter: four teams were now tied at the top, and nly the last round would decide between them.

The Bald Ones lost again. After a great start, they had to be content with the third place. Utab Ixa and Stats Knights both won the final round against their respectiv opponents: the tie-breker would decide. Even there, these teams were almost equally matched: with just a one point differece in the second tie-breaker score (Buchholz Cut-1), “Utab Ixam” took away the first place!

It was great see so many people in our first tournament of the year. We hope everyone had fun, and to see you again in future events. Pictures and final results are shown below!
