From this year on, we will introduce an annual membership fee of 5 CHF per year. Membership is only necessary to join our tournaments, casuals remain free.
Additionally, we also introduce shifts for our events. You can volunteer for a shift throughout the year. If you are already a member, we will reimburse you the membership fee after your shift. If not, you automatically become a member.
Shift are for a single event and usually involve bringing the chess material to the event location, staying there for the duration of the event, and bringing the material back. Both of these only take 15 minutes, as our boards are stored in HG (the building where all our events take place) and we have a cart to transport material. During the event, you can just participate as normal. Each shift will be shared with two people. Doing a shift for a tournament automatically registers you for the tournament.
Once you register for a shift, you will receive a confirmation email in due time to explain the details.
Note: Registering for a shift, does not make you a member yet. If you join any tournaments between your registration and your actual shift, you will still be required to pay the 5 CHF membership fee. It will be reimbursed to you after your shift took place.
Note #2: The form is a bit shitty: if many people open the page at the same time, the restriction on the amount of shifts does not work properly. If you opened this page right after our message on WhatsApp, you might receive an email you were too late for the two shifts. You will also receive a confirmation if you were one of the two that got it on time (this is not automated though, so ignore the automated email you get).
